And the program attempts to maintain a given distance (50 if not specified) between each pair of names. They move about with some random vibrations added, trying to satisfy their relationships to each other. Certain structures, such as the variations on the grafitti artist SAMO, are intended to self organize into a known shape due to their lattice work or relationships. Others, such as the stock quotations, are intended to impose structure on all the other patterns.
Personally, I like the meta-organizational effect of the stock quote cluster, it was not obvious. It is also fun to click-drag a name, and see how everything else must re-organize around the change. Currents can be induced in the patterns, too!
Andy Warhol did not turn out too well. Perhaps if the SAMO structure were enlarged slightly, it could trap the andy chain inside it?
